Game Recap & Analysis: Varsity Football vs. Socorro H.S.

The Franklin Football team put on a show at their homecoming game against Socorro. The team was on fire scoring 70 points. Many players took advantage of their opportunities and showed what they could do.

To start off, the offense started with a 53-yard touchdown on their first offensive play. Junior Quarterback Shay Smith threw the ball to Senior Wide Receiver Beau Sparks who hauled it in for the score.

On the second offensive drive, Junior Running Back Jordan Morales had a 67-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 14-0.

Our defense also came to play, forcing nine Socorro three-and-outs in the game. Quarterback Smith threw the ball to Sophomore Wide Receiver Elias Rangel who ran a slant-route for the 50-yard touchdown pass.

To finish off the 1st quarter, Running Back Jordan Morales got his second touchdown of the night with a 53-yard touchdown run to make the score 27-0.

Then, Junior Quarterback Shay Smith scored a 29-yard rushing touchdown. On the next offensive drive, Smith and Wide Receiver Beau Sparks connected again for another touchdown this time from 42 yards out to make the score 41-0.

Then the offense put their second team in, and they still drove down the field and scored. Sophomore Running Back Jason Villagrana scored on a 9-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 49-0 after Beau Sparks ran in a fake field goal for the 2-pt conversion.

The second team defense then goes in and gets an interception on Socorro’s next drive. Senior Safety Nick Garcia came up with the interception getting the ball back to the offense who scored again. It was again Sophomore Running Back Jason Villagrana breaking tackles scoring from 24 yards out making the score 56-0.

Sophomore Running Back Jaylen Williams then got his time to shine. Jaylen scored on a 36-yard rushing touchdown to add to the big score. Sophomore Wide Receiver Elias Rangel who is also the backup quarterback, scored on a 9-yard read option play to score from the quarterback position to make the score 70-0.

The Franklin football team showed no mercy against Socorro putting on a great offensive showing for Homecoming Week. The team is now 4-1, 3-0 in district, and looks to stay undefeated in district play entering the 2nd half of the season.
