Franklin High school offers dual credit classes for a medical program called P-Tech. P-Tech allows students to take collage level courses in order to try and complete their associates degree early, with this students are able to take on internships with multiple medical clinics around El Paso.
Not only P-Tech medical students get this opportunity also students in the different career pathways that are available at Franklin, these include the Manufacturing and engineering side, the business, informational technology, and trades in industry.
These internships are eligible for current 11th graders and will be 19 hours a week for 4-6 weeks during the summer, the dates include June 8- July 17 of 2026, This gives students the opportunity to gain real world work experience, explore interest in other career choices, building professional skills, and to help strengthen collage and job applications for later on in life.
“I think its a good opportunity because it puts me into the real world and it lets me work with others,” junior Hana Jallad said.
For others, like junior Krish Shivam, this opportunity helps students in their future endeavors.
“I want to go into the medical field, so i feel like this is a great opportunity for me to learn for my future,” Shivam said.
